Limbe I Council Pioneer To Complete PROLOG Projects Nationwide

Limbe I Council in Fako Division of the South West Region has emerged as pioneer council to have completed its project allocated by the Local Governance and Resilient Communities Project, PROLOG, across the national territory for 2025.

The revelation was made by the Regional Coordinator of PROLOG, Ako Tabe Leo, on Thursday , December 4, in the Busumbu neighbourhood, Limbe I Municipality, during the official handing over of eighteen street lights project, funded by PROLOG.

During the event, Ako hailed Limbe I Council for the giant stride made to be the first to execute the assigned task in the country.
“I’m very proud that the first project that has been received by PROLOG in the Republic of Cameroon is from Limbe I Council,” he said.

Ako noted Limbe I Council was awarded two projects worth FCFA 20 million and FCFA 28 million.
“This electrification of Busumbu quarter is worth FCFA 20 million,” he said.

Initially, the Regional Coordinator of PROLOG for the South West said, only ten councils in the South West Region were shortlisted to benefit from the pilot phase.
“Limbe I Council was not among these ten councils, but surprisingly, it is the first council to benefit from PROLOG in the whole of the Republic of Cameroon,” Ako said.

He added:”This permitted the council to benefit from close to FCFA 50 million from the quiz.” The Mayor of Limbe I Council, Florence Eposi Mbwaye, decided to invest the money in two different projects; one being the electrification of Lower Busumbu village with street lights.

In her intervention, Mayor Mbwaye expressed joy in being the first council nationwide to complete the PROLOG project.

She used the event to thank the contractor for executing the work on record time.
The mayor also thanked the Divisional Delegate of Water and Energy for Fako and engineers of Limbe I Council for the proper follow-up of the project.

She assured inhabitants of different neighbourhoods in the municipality that other projects are in the pipeline which they will also benefit.
“If we’re here today in Busumbu quarter, tomorrow we’ll be in another quarter in my municipality; every quarter will benefit from Limbe I Council in due time,” she noted.

Limbe I Mayor was accompanied to the field by the Regional Coordinator of PROLOG for the South West, Ako Tabe Leo; Divisional Delegate of Decentralisation and Local Development for Fako, Naseri Julius; Divisional Delegate of Water and Energy for Fako, Mukete Eric; as well as the contractor and council engineers.

On their part, the beneficiaries of Lower Busumbu expressed satisfaction and thanked the mayor, appealing to her to keep up the good work in other localities in the municipality.

The PROLOG project represents an ambitious initiative aimed at sustainably transforming the living conditions of populations in targeted areas.

Through multi-sectoral interventions, the project seeks to address major socio-economic challenges and strengthens the resilience of local communities in the face of current issues, including climate change and inequality.

PROLOG’s overall goal is to increase community access to climate-resilient infrastructures and strengthens local capacity to effectively manage resources and deliver services.
