The festivals, BACDU43 and MECDU45, are expected to hold in 2025 and 2026 respectively All roads will be leading to Konye Sundivision, Meme Division of the South West Region as the year draws to an end, to open a new chapter for next year.Konye, known as the Emerging City, will host two annual cultural festivals. These include that of the Bakundu Cultural and Development Union, BACDU, and Mbonge Cultural and Development Organisation, MECDO. The cultural jamborees are expected to empty the 45 Mbonge and 35 Bakundu villages to Konye Town, seat of Konye Subdivision and Ngolo Bolo, respectively. BACDU, under its President General and former minister, His Majesty Nganga Mataka Justice Benjamin Mutanga Itoe, has programmed its activities to run from November 21 to 23, 2025. On their part, the people of the Mbonge tribe, under the leadership of Senator Sie Esara Otte Andrew Mofa, President General of MECDO, are expected to organise their festival early next year. In 2024, indigenes of the Bakundu clan gathered at Bombe Bakundu, a locality along the Kumba- Buea road, and re-animated cultural activities, celebrated for the first time, since the outbreak of the socio-political upheavals in the North West and South West regions of Cameroon. This was later followed by that of MECDO from February 28 to March 2, 2025, at Mbonge Marumba, seat of Mbonge Subdivision. Such cultural festivals serve as fora for sons and daughters at home and abroad, to meet, speak in one voice, and above all recognise persons for outstanding achievements. In the meantime, the population of Konye Town and neighbouring Ngolo Bolo are anxiously waiting for both events as more buisness places continue to emerge in the respective communities. The Senior Divisional Officer, SDO, for Meme Division, collaborators, elites, traditional rulers, and friends of both tribes are expected to witness the events to make the cultural showdowns quite memorable. The Bakundu clan and Mbonge tribe spread across Meme Division of the South West region of Cameroon.
