Konye Municipality:Pioneer Beneficiary Of PPRD’s Business Recovery

Konye Municipality in Meme Division is the pioneer beneficiary of business recovery pillar of the Presidential Plan for the Reconstruction and Development of the North West and South West regions, PPRD-NW/SW.

The business recovery pillar is one of four pillars to which beneficiaries are link to.
The large consignment, comprised of items such as refrigerators, cements, motor bikes, zincs, gas cookers, electric kettles, laptops, flours, groundnut, oil, palm oil, washing soaps, detergents, sugar, among others, were handed to beneficiaries by staff of the implementing partner, Environment and Sustainable Development Organization, ESUDEV.
The donation took place on November 25-26, 2025, at Konye Council warehouse, Konye Town, in the presence of the Mayor of the Konye Council, Dr Barrister Musima George Lobe.

The philanthropic gesture by the government of Cameroon and its major donor partner, United Nations Development Programme, UNDP, is aimed at re-establishing persons who became vulnerable due to the Anglophone crisis that morphed into an armed conflict in 2017 in the North West and South West regions of Cameroon.

Addressing the population during the event, Mayor Musima thanked the government of Cameroon and its partners for the privilege accorded to Konye as the pioneer beneficiary of the items in the region.
He urged the recipients to make judicious use so as to empower themselves.

On his part, the Administrator and Finance Officer of ESUDEV, Gabriel Ndze, re-echoed the call by the mayor for the beneficiaries to use the items for the purpose intended.

He assured the population that many more will receive their gifts, adding that the total number to benefit from the pillar in konye is 93, though just 50 were selected for the first phase.
Ndze said there shall be a balance and check to ensure proper use of the donated items.

Speaking later, Ekoge Herbert revealed he is in charge of supplies and what he has supplied are the essentials as demanded.

The beneficiaries have expressed gratitude to the government and its partners for the gesture.
They said this will go a long way to improve their livelihoods after the agony inflicted on them by the socio-political upheavals in the area.

The impact is already being felt as beneficiaries have engaged the items into meaningful development and positive change in konye community.
